Multi-company platform: a separate web instance and database for every company
ELX is a multi-company platform: each contracting company runs its own web instance with its own database and manages its branches, regions, contracts and warehouses inside it, with every user’s data scoped to their branches and districts. It is a cloud (SaaS) service hosted and operated by Matrix, so your team works in the browser with no servers on your side.
What a multi-company platform means in ELX
On the ELX multi-company platform, every contracting company has its own instance, and its work orders, users, guides and settings live in its own database. Inside each instance, data is organised by branch, region, contract and user.
A separate web instance per company
Each company runs its own ELX web instance, with a database it shares with no other company. Matrix hosts and operates the instance, so you need no servers of your own.
Sessions bound to the company database
A user’s session is tied to their company’s database. If that database changes, the session is cancelled and a new login is required.
Your identity on every printout
Each company enters its name, commercial registration, VAT number and logo, and edits its own print header and footer.
Multiple branches and warehouses
Branches and warehouses with Arabic and English names; each warehouse has a branch and a manager who is sent its movement alerts.
Regions, cities, districts and offices
A geographic hierarchy completed from OpenStreetMap, plus administrative offices covering their own districts; the office is suggested from the district on import.
Multiple contracts, each with its prices
Every contract has a unique number and its own implementation items, materials and prices, with optional sequence-by-contract numbering.
A data scope for every user
Users see only their branches and districts in lists and on the dashboard, and the permission matrix decides what they can do on each screen.
A mobile-ready API for field apps
A documented REST API for field mobile apps, which sets each user’s available screens from the same permission matrix. See field work and the mobile API.
Arabic and English in one instance
Users switch between Arabic and English from the header, and every guide record has a name in each language.
How a company works inside its instance
- 1
Sign in from the browser
Users sign in from their browser, with nothing to install, using a user code and password, and the session is bound to their company’s database. A forgotten password is reset with an emailed code.
- 2
Work within your scope
Each user sees the work orders and indicators for their branches and districts, and only the screens they may open.
- 3
Execute against the right contract
Each work order carries its branch, office and contract, so that contract’s items and prices follow it to the certificate and extract.
- 4
Connect field work
The mobile-ready API lets field apps work on stages under the same permissions and validation rules as the web system.
- 5
Manage the whole company
Administrators see every branch and district on the dashboard and manage permissions, guides and settings for their company.
What separating each company’s data solves
An electrical contractor’s data is commercially sensitive: contract prices, material quantities, extract values and subscriber details. That is why each company on ELX runs its own web instance and database, shared with no other company, and its administrator sets each user’s permissions and data scope.
- A separate web instance and database for every company.
- Sessions bound to the company database, and cancelled if it changes.
- Per-screen, per-action permissions and branch and district scoping inside the company.
- An audit log of who changed what, and when, on master data and key operational records.
How ELX separates and organises data
| Level | What is separated or organised | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Company | Its own web instance and database; sessions bound to that database | No two companies share a database |
| Branch and warehouse | Branches, warehouses and a manager per warehouse | Orders and material movements are tracked per branch and warehouse |
| District and office | Region, city and district hierarchy; offices covering set districts | When assigning, dispatchers pick from the users listed for the order’s district |
| Contract | Its own items, materials and prices; optional per-contract numbering | Certificates and extracts use the prices of the order’s contract |
| User | Per-screen, per-action rights and a branch and district scope | Each employee sees what concerns them, within their rights |
| Language | Arabic and English interface; a name per language for every guide record | Each team works in its own language on the same data |
What Matrix provides with the ELX platform
ELX is a cloud (SaaS) service hosted and operated by Matrix, so your company needs no servers and no installed software — a browser is enough. Alongside the platform, Matrix provides the services that help your team move over and work on it every day:
- User training on the system.
- Migration of your existing Excel data: work orders, materials and master data.
- Technical support over WhatsApp, also reachable from the support button in the system header.
- Customisation of screens, reports and stages to fit your company.
ELX platform FAQ
Is our data separate from other companies that use ELX?
Yes. Each company runs ELX on its own web instance, with a database it shares with no other company, and every user’s session is bound to their company’s database — if it changes, the session is cancelled and a new login is required. Inside the company, your administrator sets permissions and each user’s data scope.
Do we need to install software on employees’ computers?
No. ELX is a cloud (SaaS) service hosted and operated by Matrix. It runs in the browser, in Arabic and English, with no servers or installed software on your side. Users sign in with a user code and password, and a forgotten password is reset with a code sent by email.
How do we get started if our data lives in Excel today?
Matrix can migrate your existing Excel data — work orders, materials and master data — train your users, and customise screens, reports and stages to your company’s needs. Once you are live, your team reaches technical support over WhatsApp and can import new work orders from Excel itself, reviewing them before they are saved.
Can one company manage several branches, regions and contracts?
Yes. A company’s instance holds multiple branches, warehouses, regions, cities, districts and administrative offices, and each contract keeps its own items and prices. Users linked to branches and districts see only those in lists and on the dashboard; administrators see everything. For selection criteria, see our electrical contractor software buyer’s guide.
We have several companies in one group. How would we work on ELX?
Each company works on its own instance with its own database, users, guides and settings, and no two companies share a database; Matrix hosts and operates the instances. Matrix can support connected instances centrally, so share your group structure with the team when you request a demo to agree the right setup.
What technology is ELX built on?
ELX is built on Microsoft’s enterprise web platform with a relational database. It sends real-time in-app alerts, and reports export to PDF and Excel. Because ELX is a cloud service hosted and operated by Matrix, you need no servers of your own to run it.
